Steady method without pseudo time

Hi All,

I have question about steady implicit schemes.
There are at least two main approaches to create steady implicit schemes:
1. we use local time steps in each cell to achieve convergence (Fluent). - it is easy to create but it is necessary to have about 5000-10000 iterations to achieve convergence.
2. Steady approach of CFX. It needs less than 1000 itearation to converge. Does anybody have any papers about such schemes?

I am interest in couple (density based) method to solve Navier Stokes equations.

Thanks
