Default Biconvex Airfoil in incompressible flow

Hi all,

having this biconvex (quadrilateral) airfoil
Leading Edge: A(0,0)
Trailing Edge B(1,0)
C(.7,.03)
D(.45,-.05)


  • I'm interested to graph streamlines at M=0, inviscid; in particular I'd like to know stagnation streamline direction at LE and TE. What do I have to do? Have you got any mesh already done or a simple application or even a jpeg showing streamlines over a generic biconvex airfoil?
  • Then, how can I determine polars?
I have fluent and Openfoam.

I'm quite new to CFD so any help is really appreciated.

Are you looking for something like this or more sophisticated?

Ciao truffaldino, innanzi tutto ti ringrazio della risposta, comunque mi interessa veramente la base, cioč vedere come le linee di corrente vanno sul profilo al variare della freccia e dell'angolo d'attacco.

I'm interested mainly to see how streamlines are directed varying the camber and/or the angle of attack.

Only secondarily I'd like to calculate polars at M=0.

I have a very simple code in "scilab" that uses 2D hess-smith panel method to calculate incompressible potential flow and streamlines past airfoils. It is extremely easy to use. Scilab is a free analog of mathlab that can be downloaded from the web.
