what is the difference between symmetry and Axis boundary condition? I mean that in the symmetric geometry when we use symmetry or Axis Boundary condition?

Hi

with a symmetry bc, it is assumed that fluid does not cross the boundary, axis symmetric bc it can.

Think about it as a circular pipe, if the fluid has a swirl or tangential component then one cannot use a symmetric bc you must use axis symmetric.

how can i create an axis bc? i´m not able to import a mesh created in icem into cfx pre where the 2d region axis is present, even if is was created as single part in icem cfd.

any ideas/solutions?
