I am trying to simulate a classical problem of a fluid jet impinging on a flat plate. My interest is to simulate the impinging jet heat tranfer. I have tried with low and high reynolds number k-eps models and RNG model. Y plus conditions specified for the models have been respected. The heat tranfer coefficient predicted by Star CD is less than that observed in experiments (reported literature). Have anybody attempted similar problem in CFD. What special care is required to taken while selecting the turbulance model and the mesh for the proper simulation of the turbulance of the impinging jet?

For this problem, V2F turbulence is the best model to use. For more details see here:

Hi,

Ya jet Impingment problem is very intresting , as another person told V2f is a best model and I ma getting very good results and I have also used Low Re chien model to justify answer, but v2f predicts in a good manner and well agreed with experimental answers. u can also reffer lots of research paper that r availble on net 1)Prediction of heat transfer in an axisymmetric turbulent jet impinging on a flat plate, int.J.Heat Mass transfer vol41 page 1845-1855, by Behnia and P.A.Durbin. 2)Impinging jet flow by UMIST university Phd thesis work(I have a copy in Pdf format). 3)

Would you be so kind as to forward on a copy of that pdf of Prediction of heat transfer in an axisymmetric turbulent jet impinging on a flat plate, int.J.Heat Mass transfer vol41 page 1845-1855, by Behnia and P.A.Durbin. 2)Impinging jet flow by UMIST university Phd thesis work(I have a copy in Pdf format). 3). Im in process of writing a final report and any help would be greatly appreciated, many thanks
