Best two-way FSI code
We'd like to simulate the following problems:
(1) An airbag type bag made of fabric and rubber materials. The bag has an initial profile/volume with complex geometry and is blown at a certain rate of air flow. Interested in internal pressure distribution and value.
(2) A valve type structure with pistons in air chambers which are formed by valve walls and diaphragms that are considered to be hyperelastic and could undergo large deformation.
Therefore, my problems to solve involve strong 2-way coupling, fabric and rubber (hyperelastic) materials. We are evaluating Ansys/fluent/CFX, CD-Adapco and CFD++ etc. We understand that for FSI, Fluent/CFX needs Ansys workbench which we do have, and CD-Adapco needs Abaqus. Any suggestions as to which code is the best for our applications?
Although I am not as familiar with the Ansys combinations of CFD and FEA, I believe that ccm+ with Abaqus is probably capable of doing what you are looking for with the latest version of ccm+ being directly couplable to Abaqus and/or file based coupling. I also seem to recall Abaqus being used by a friend to model skin tissue under impact though I forget if it was the explicit or standard version of Abaqus used. However, I don't personally know what the cost of acquiring both programs is compared to the Ansys combination.
You do not need a FSI code like the above mention,
you need a solver for crash test as Radioss, Pam crash, LS Dyna
there are option to model airbags and to have areal FSI simulation.
Full non linear, any typeof material and equatio etc.

Fluidyn MP FSI-FE+FV strong coupling
fluidyn-MP FSI (Fluid Structure Interaction) is a fluid mechanics software to simulate fluid structure coupling. It simultaneously calculates the mechanical stress and vibration phenomena in the structures and the flow in the fluids in contact.
fluidyn-MP FSImodels the multi-physics interactions by an innovative method which includes the strong coupling of advanced solution techniques for each study domain : Finite Volumes (FV) for fluid flow calculations and Finite Elements (FE) for structures. As far for the second problem, call metacomp and ask about CSN++ it is their new solution for FSI.
