Hi, I am working on a fairing for a piece of equipment on an AUV and I was considering using the leading edge of one NACA four digit profile with the trailing edge of another NACA four digit series. I am about halfway through an engineering degree so my knowledge of hydrodynamics is limited and if there are any experts who have anything to say about mismatched NACA profiles I would appreciate the comments or advice. So far I have been testing a profile with a NACA 0025 leading edge, a straight section in the middle and a NACA 0040 trailing edge in FLUENT and I am concerned about if this mismatching is resulting in a less stable flow.

Thanks,

Tom

p.s. the reason for the mismatching is to keep the overall length down.
