DDES with wall function

I have to simulate a wind turbine with OpenFoam. For a better study of the unsteady 3d effect i wanna use the LES turbulence model.
but because the Re is too high, it's not possible to resolve the DES (like Spalart proposed "for the first attempt of a problem" in "young persons guide to DES grids"). So i need to use a wall function.
My question: Is there any advantage for using DDES (or IDDES) with wall function over using a normal LES with wall function.
