I am a doctarate student and my thesis is the numerical study on transitional pipe flow at the entrance. I am studying numerical for pipe entrance transitional (laminar to turbulent Re= 4000) flow I want to simulate turbulent fluctuation (pressure fluctuation) and then compare them with experimental results of mine. so I have to use LES modelling in FLUENT. I draw the pipe geometry and meshing it in Ansys workbench. now I want to solve it by using LES model in FLUENT. I used smagorinsky lilly model for SGS. but did not run. I study the notes in the HELP menu but didn't find any knowladge about the problem.
*how can I simulate the laminar to turbulent transitional flow in the entrance of pipe.
is there any tutorials or notes to help me in this numerical study.

await of your helps

Hi, did you find any solution? I am also searching a tutorial using LES in Fluent. I want to simulate the turbulent flow in pipe using LES.

but what's the problem? the pipe is periodic along the axis? You can fix a pressure gradient in the momentum equation and run the fractional step method, using LES with dynamic Smaogorinsky.
