Analyze (Average values) on Isosurfaces or Sections?

Hi guys,

Just one general question. What is the right way to analyze CFD results. For example an airfoil, here Ansys TurboPost or other Software I have seen are using the IsoSurfaces (they have the shape of the Hub, or Inlet, etc...) for analyzing the results. But i have seen some engineers, which are analyzing on Cylindrical secions and or planes, etc....

What is the right way to do this in Turbomachinery (Blade - Vanes, etc..) and also why are the isosurfaces prefered? (of Ansys TurboPost)

It mus have something to do with averaging in Turbomachinery, etc...

There isn't the right way to do it. It's up to you what question you are interested in. Thats why our work is also called "art of engineering" (Ingenieurskunst). Just try different things to see what you get. With a growing experience you will know what to look for. Sometimes it's just one number.

Haha, Joern, I don't think there are many people around here who would know what an Erz(b)engel is.
