Dear for all, I'm going to simulate the steady incompressible turbulent flow arrond an airfoil. There are many Formulations such as : Mac method, Simple, piso...etc. But wath is the best one for these kind of problemes? Thanks for your response in advance

If MAC, SIMPLE, PISO are equally unfamiliar to you, Choose SIMPLE for popularity. MAC requires Catesican grids.

Thanks versi for your response. It is not an equation, that is unfamiliar or no for me. I surch what is the suimple method regarding the other ones. For Mac method is then employed in generalised coordinates.

MAC - is the most simple, SIMPLE - most popular. I've worked on both and if you use a turbulence model (k-e or RSA), i'd suggest using SIMPLE. Have you tried LES or DNS? I've tried Piso, but not much luck, I'm afraid.

very thanks Nick, Yes, I surch the eseay method. For steady incompressible turbulent flow I'm going to start with k-epsilon model and finaly the LES method.

the physics of 2D turbulence ( e.g. thin films ) is completely different to 3D turbulence. I'd read a little more before going down this investigation route. Your simulations will not capture the inverse cacade of 2D turbuelnce as K-E model assumed dissipation which does not occur in 2D turbulence!

Hope this helps!
