It is ok to request a paper on an online forum since it might be hard to get one. I saw a thread where a person was requesting for PERIC's Book and someone indeed send it to him. Come on guys this is a total abuse of an online forum to promote piracy. But I would request the administrator to ban such messages. It may not be illegal in some places but these guys spend so much effort to write a book and they should obviously get their part for the man hours of work they put in to prepare it.

what if someone returns you the pdf you sent him, is this equivalent of giving someone book and then he returns it to you???

I don't think to return an electronic copy is equivalent to return a physical one. Even if you delete the corresponding file, an expert can still find the file on your hard drive, except if if you physically destroy it, so the safer is refuse it, or accept the consequences.

Anyway you should know your home country laws !

Except China which is still reluctant to apply international copyright principles, or other countries who officially claims to apply them, but in practice do not care of it.

Dear Noname (?)

I completely respect writer's rights. But....

Firstly. Now I am in situation when I can allow that.

Secondly. I use cracked WindowsXP, MSOffice Pro,TecPlot7.0, Visual FORTRAN 6.0, Maple, MatLab.

Thirdly. If anyone of my friends or colleagues by CFD ask me for help I will help him, cause I have suffer enough.

I live in Lithuania and study at home in small town far away from libraries. I am non-working invalid and live with my ill mom. Our income less than 200 USD.

When I'll be in university and will work oficially that will be another matter.....

Best regards. Mike.

Also I should to add that all my life, dedicated to Aviation and CFD is illegal.

1) Served illegaly 10 years in Air Defence Russia with Lithuanian citizenship. There I stusied best interceptors Mig-31 and Su-27 and even had post-graduated courses

2) When I refused to have deal with RF's spiecal services all was over, besides my parents in Lithuania became ill

3) I was deported from Russia for that

4) I was deprived Lithuanian citizenship for my illegal service in Russia without permission and Lithuanians representatives refused to allow me to Lithuania.

5) I cross Lithuanian-Russian state border illegaly cause I have to return to Lithuania

6) Now I illegaly use a lot of program products.

I LOVE AVIATION, I LOVE CFD AND NOONE WILL PREVENT ME FROM THAT.

Isn't Peric a resident of Germany? As far as I know in Germany copying is legal under certain limited circumstances. For every copy-machine and even for the paper some kind of tax is paid. The income of this tax is distribute among the authors. Nice compromisse between poor students and the economic interests of the authors

Dear Ben

I don't steal anything in my all life (29 years).

I am not a cracker or hacker.

I don't do (make) business on that.

I don't misappropriate

I only use what lie badly.

When I shall become professor or at least get Ms Degree may be I shall become some kind of moralist like You.

But till I am not in Chalmers or in KTH I will work at home in very difficult conditions and will use what I can use.

If You attentively looked throgh my previous responces, You could understand what I passed through.

I don't wish to You even smallest part of the hell I have passed.

But:

- I have seen real spaceships,

- I was in Space Center

- I was in Space Training Center

- I spoke with astronauts

- I worked with Mig-31 and Su-27

- I served in desert with non-manned drones

You won't see all that during all Your life

Soon I hope to be in KTH or Chalmers (writing my thesis) and I hope that people will understand me

I would use the internet to guide the development of my own notes. There are more than enough freely available sources for the basics that you do not need to steal.

I would not tell the world that I routinely stole all sorts of things because it is likely to stop people helping me.

The particular task you wish to perform is a straightforward mathematical derivation that has been performed by large numbers of students/researchers in all types of disciplines. The resulting equations are available from many sources, a lengthy written out derivation is unlikely to be available in books and papers. It is available in some detailed course notes such as those by Anderson.

If you really cannot see how to do a forward and backward transformation between a cartesan and a curvilinear coordinate system (answer: chain rule and Cramer's rule) I would post the question to sci.math.num-analysis or some such newsgroup.

Dear Andy!

I will be very grateful if You find possibility to help me. I haven't the sligghtest idea from what I should begin.

In all issues I've discover there is only beggining and the end, without detailed derivation.

I also believe that this problem was successfully solved, but I need a complete understanding of the question (once I already had good CFD code but I used it without complete understanding< I would like to correct this mistake).

Unfortunately I can not go to the library of Academy of Science in St.-Petersburg to find out all I need, as I used to do in 1999 and 2000 years, so I will very pleased if You have any key point, or to direct me.

But I feel You don't work with FVM for incompressible flows.

Trouble powerful people in CFD world - uneasy task, besides I am afraid to seem annoying.

So if You can help - please.

Michail

Given a function f(x,y) and we want to evaluate the spatial operators on a curvilinear grid (i,j). The differentials are given by:

df(x,y)/di = df/dx.dx/di + df/dy.dy/di (1)

df(x,y)/dj = df/dx.dx/dj + df/dy.dy/dj (2)

(you will have to sort out the partial derivative symbols)

In the above we have 2 equations and 2 unknowns: df/dx and df/dy (i.e. the things we cannot evaluate on the curvilinear grid). Solving the above will allow you to replace df/dx and df/dy by terms only involving d?/di or d?/dj which you can evaluate on your grid.

3D simply involves 3 equations. Repeat to get second derivatives.
