I created a geometry and a mesh in gmsh 2.4.2 on Ubuntu Linux. To be able to use the mesh in FreeCFD I need it in cgns format. Unfortunately there is no option to save the mesh directly in cgns. It is automatically saved in msh.

Nevertheless there seems to be a command line option to let gmsh create a mesh in cgns format. I tried "gmsh Savonius_S2.msh -format cgns -smooth 1 -o Savonius_S2.cgns". Now I am not sure whether this is the right way to do the conversion. Can anyone confirm the procedure?

Don't spend effort on this question any more. I think I will switch to OpenFoam.
