How to convert the CAD file to FDS format?
 

Hello everyone. Currently I am using Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS). The FDS has a converting CAD Output into FDS format program, the DXF2FDS. However, all my CAD drawing was using AutoCAD. When I convert the AutoCAD drawing, there are many errors there.

According to the FDS website, "DXF2FDS is a program that converts some 3D DXF cad files to FDS input files. It has been used successfully to convert DXF files created by many different CAD programs as long as the CAD program creates a DXF file with 3DFACE variables. The converter reads 3DFACE variables from the DXF files and converts them to FDS obstructions. The converter also creates FDS SURF lines for all layers in the DXF file, and allows the user to link them to materials in the FDS database."

AutoCAD does not suitable CAD program? What else program I could use instead the AutoCAD? Please help me! thank you very much!!!

are you drawing 3-d with autocad? did the documentation for DXF2FDS not help?

Yes I did the Drawing in AutoCAD, I follow the DXF2FDS step, but the file is not fully convert from Autocad file to DXF2FDS file......

New version of the AutoCAD to FDS plugin was released. It is still alpha but it has number enhancements in comparison with previous version.
