ellipticity

I came across a cfd source code and I saw one of the input parameter was ellipticity. Can anyone give me insight to me what it refers to and how we set the value. Which book do you recommend me to read about, but I also want to avoid too much mathmatical jargon as well. thankyou

Re: ellipticity

ellipticity shows the type of pde form that apples to the sort of the NSE, it could also be parabolic. but explain it more so we can help you.

Re: ellipticity

Dear cfd forum participants, I was expexcting some one would be assistance on this matter. Is my curiosty irrelevant in cfd issues or is my question trivial, I am really getting stucked on my project unless I resolve this issue. Otherwise it would be running a code which I donot have insight into. I know the NSE would be first discretized as elliptic pde before we introduce the non linear advecation terms and and the pressure (poisson like ) part, but what is ellipticity parameter and what does it reflect. again thankyou for bearing with my demand. ben

Re: ellipticity

It may be not universal meaning, so search the code inside where the parameter is used and put the routinues here, so that people have better understand its usage.
