Hello all my friends in this group discussion
Let me introduce my self, my name Andre Sufadia G.S from majority Mechanical Engineering in Institute Technology Bandung. Now, I am still doing my final report for my graduation but I need some favors about simulation fluidizied bed with particles.

Have you ever make simulation about fluidized bed with a particle before?
Can you please tell me the steps or tutorial link how to add the "particle" factor into the simulation by using gambit and fluent?

Can you explain regarding the flow through porous media...?? Because I have to make the porosity by arranging the spheres in such a way that I get 40% porosity and also just hot water flowing from the top....Help me pls...

do a literature search for journal articles written regarding the flow through porous media. There has been a lot of research done on the subject. I'll email you some journal papers dealing with the subject.

Thank you thanks a lot...but are you talking about the porous material as a substance or as I said is there any related to my problem..?? becoz in my case meshing is the problem....

are you using Fluent? Fluent has a good porous media tutorial. You will just set up a 'porous zone' and define it according to your specific condition..permeability etc.

Hi I am suing Ansys Workbench in that FLUENT and the thing is I cant just consider it as a zone becoz I have to study the heat transfer between the solid Spheres and fluid which is flowing through the surface...See the attachment..this is how it is supposed to be...and in the geometry also I will have to give some contact surface so that the meshing will be proper...But I have no clue how to do...

Are you assuming the solid spheres to have a certain flux? or a constant temperature? What is your BC for the spheres? If you just have to the two spheres to mesh, along with the fluid zone, that won't be too difficult. I'd mesh each of the spheres first and then mesh the fluid zone.

the assignment is that of a heat storage system..That is layers of Granite may be the sphere material will be arrianged one above the other in a tank where the inside of the tank is insulated..and from the top that is inlet water @ 360 K and 0.001 to 0.1 m/s velocity flows....so naturaly there will be some heat transfer between the fluid and spheres..I have to see that and the outlet temperature ..its much better when we get very less outlet temperature say like 200 or watever...but that shows its efficiency that lot of heat is stored in the spheres...And based on the number of elements in the sphere and the fluid region there outlet temperature changes....and at some point it will be constant..so have to check that also....and to show the graph...of that temperature and elements dependencies..that is just apart of my assignment..at the end have to calculate the out let temperature and Biot numbers ,nusselts number etc...and its dependencies...based on the outlet temperatures...Sir can you give me your email ID

It is very simple to simulate fluidized bed system using Fluent.
You could use the following model
Eulerian granular multiphase model with heat transfer ( fluidized bed simulation)
