Sailplane Modelling in Salome Platform

Hello,

I am fairly new to Salome, and am currently using it to model a high performance sailplane for a project concerned with reducing drag by introducing lower winglets.

This is the first complex model I have attempted to create in Salome, and have been building by manually entering keypoints (I am running Salome on Windows 7). When I came to taper the wing, I scaled the wing profile down and displaced the keypoints to the wing tip. The profile is made up of 121 keypoints in both cases, and in each case I created 5 Bezier Curves to link them, before creating a planar face from the Bezier Curves.

I tried to extrude from the bigger face to the smaller face (and vice versa) but could not find a command on the GUI that would create a solid, tapered wing. Each wing also has an un-tapered section going from the large planar face to the fuselage, which I simply extruded.

I thought I had managed to build the tapered sections when I utilised the GUI via New Entity > Blocks > Quadrangle Face to create faces between corresponding curves, but I noticed a discontinuity between the quadranglular and planar faces when I tried to create a shell and solid from the section.

I am also unable to make the un-tapered part of my wing solid, as it does not end with a face on the fuselage (I do not know how to do this, so I simply extruded a little into the fuselage and used the FUSE command).

I realise that my problems may be beginner stuff but I would very much appreciate any help. If you PM me I can send you my model for reference.

Thanks,

David
