What is the approach to modeling pressure waves from a vibrating surface?

I am very new to CFD and have something specific I'm trying to do with it. I recognize the importance of learning how things work, but don't think that I need to learn about things like convection or supersonic flow. However, most of what I have found is about these and similar topics. I'm trying to figure our where to focus my efforts. I want to be able to define how a surface or body is vibrating and then determine what the pressure waves created by this would be like. What subset of CFD would I need to study to learn more about this? Or what is this type of problem called? Also, how is a mesh created when the surfaces of the mesh are not stationary? Thank you for any help and guidance you can offer. |
It sounds like you are interested in modeling a pressure wave in a fluid with low (or zero) velocity? That is acoustics.

Modeling Acoustics.
Yes, I am interested in acoustics. I am not sure how to approach this topic with CFD though. I am new to CFD and all of the examples that I've been able to find so far are of fluid flow over a cylinder or through a pipe, heat transfer, etc. I haven't been able to find any example even remotely related to acoustics. I have no idea how to set that kind of problem up and I'm not trying to get someone to give me a full explanation of how it's done, but if someone could point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it. I just feel like I'm stuck right now and don't know where to look.
