CFD for new users

HI.. im a mechanical engg student 2nd yr and wish to start my study on CFD..wat shud i start wid..my work basically deals wid cfd analysis of microaerial vehicles..pls suggest me..! thank you

The most thorough approach would be to take a class in engineering mathematics/numerics first. You can find these for free on itunes or other platforms. Without the mathematical background, you are in danger of becoming just a buttonpusher who learns the GUI of his solver of choice, without knowing the underlying basics.

So take a few classes on numerics, then I suggest you get some good introductory books!

As i am a science student i hv studied engineering mathematics two courses in my frst year of mechanical engineering so i am well aware of the mathematics involved.. i hv also studied a course of fluid mechanics..i am just abt to start the cfd..so i was askin abt how to start it..

Then I would suggest start by writing a 1D solver in the language of your choice for the lin, scalar advection equation using FD, FE, FV, DG, etc. That will help you understand the different discretizations and the strengths and weaknesses. Once you have that, think about extending it to 2D, or to Euler or Navier Stokes equations.
