ALE Source code!

Hi,

Does anyone know of where I can get a good free ALE source code from?

This would be most appreciated!

Thanks

James

I don't think that what he meant

James probably meant ALE as in "Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian"

Re: I don't think that what he meant

James should be more specific next time.

Tiger, just a small question: Are you american?

Yes, I am American and proud!

What does this have to do with CFD? Just people need to be more specific and detailed with their questions. It is just like my students who turn in their homework without any explanations. It is a lost practice in society.

(i agree).

My question does not have to do with CFD, it was just curosity. But i think you have all the right to know why i asked that.

when i read your message, two events came to my mind.

1 Few years ago, there was a plane crash at some American airport. A airplane ran out of fuel and fell near the airport. This airplane pilot, in last hour of crash asked control tower to give him preference since his plane is running out of fuel, and they do not have enough fuel to hang on in air. In last 45 minutes before crash, pilot at least 12 times told control tower than we are running of of fuel please let us land first. But they were not given runway to land and they crashed. The investigation did not find control tower at fault. Because the pilot never used the word 'emergency', he only said airplane did not have fuel. Apparently he was not specific enough.

2. after katirina-huricane distaster, it was raised why there were not enough troops in the state to help people. State said that they asked for all out support from feds. Federal response was, governor never asked for troops and state was not 'specific enough' in asking for help.

Well after knowing few such things, I have started to believe that, in America, its not important if few hundred people die, its more important whether the person used the correct word or not, or whether he was 'specific enough' or not. Thus I asked you the question I asked.

Re: ALE Source code!

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I was not specific enough! I did mean a Arbitrary Langrangian Eulerian code, as I thought ALE was an universal term!

Thanks

James

While I agree that it was pretty obvious what he meant considering this is a CFD forum, your analogy and assumptions are pretty lousy.

That's much better!

Lets not confuse common sense and being a good communicator.

Is that a low point in this forum, or what? Attacking users based on their nationality? Although I find it somewhat amusing that the author of such low messages would choose to display his/her ignorance in this forum, there might be better places to express lack of character. It really has nothing to do with CFD.

James, Tiger, and most other users will understand full well that the usage of acronyms, while often clear, can sometimes lead to misunderstandings. If you only use an acronym in your own little world, you tend to be oblivious to alternative meanings. What was meant may be obvious to some, just because that's all they know. And we assume everyone knows just what we know. That happens to all of us, from time to time, not just to James. It happened to Tiger, too, when he answered James' message without clarifying what was actually meant by ALE. James assumed everyone would know, and Tiger thought he knew. Partners in crime. Big deal. ;)

"Off-topic" => it has no place in this forum.

Well i never meant to attack anybody. It was just curosity. Anyway if it has hurt anybody, i say sorry for it. Lets burry this topic now.
