I currently have an .stl model of an aortic arch, including the fluid domain AND the thickness of the model surrounding it. Obviously for my CFD analysis I want to only have the fluid domain, and need some way to "subtract" the thickness (uniform thankfully) from the outer surface that I have.

Is there a way I can do this in ICEM? I've looked over all the surface tools and haven't seen anything that seems to do that. I am able to import the .stl and create the necessary surfaces from it to represent the domain, it's just that they include the thickness of the solid surrounding the fluid domain that I don't want. If not is there another CAD program that could do something similar? SpaceClaim? Creo? Solidworks?

Hi,

You create the part name as 'Fluid volume' and required surface in single selection.

Tool Name: 'select all item attached to the current selection'

you can also ask all ICEM CFD meshing(HEX & Tet) related questions to me. I will clear you doubts.
