Meshing software comparison

Hi,

I'm toying with the idea to use a meshing software for our CFD simulations. Right now we're using Phoenics and the meshing is done by Phoenics (only structured meshing without blocking). Now I'm looking for a more convenience program for meshing. The main fields we're dealing with are simulations of HVAC systems and external wind simulations. This is why the simulation should cover following topis:
1) block-structured meshing for internal duct flow
2) structured / unstructured meshing inside rooms
3) structured / unstructured meshing for wind simulations (air flow around buildings including exhaust dispersion)

In this forum ANSA, enGrid, GridPro and Pointwise/ Gridgen are listed. Are there any recommendations / comparisons concerning these software packages available? What are your experiences with the listed ones? Are there any other softwares available which would cover the mentioned tasks?

Thanks in advance
cheers

ANSA would be a convenient option, as u can control all the parameters of ur surface and volume mesh also it is easy to clean up geometry, maintain mesh quality for hybrid grids once u get familiar with the software.

best regards.

I forgot to mentioned that we use AutoCAD 2013 and Inventor to build our 3D models. So a good interface between the meshing programm and our CAD software is necessary.
Does ANSA offers this feature? Based on their homepage I would say yes, but is it a convenience way to import CAD files in ANSA or very tricky?

You can directly open IGES & STEP files in ANSA.......

these are great news. Let's see if I can get a free trial version for testing purpose.

You could also consider to test AutoMesh for this type of application.
