Hi everyone:

I need to create a triangular mesh on a unit sphere surface with a prespecified number of mesh points (12), then, extract a two files, one for the XYZ values of grid points, and the second file is for these mesh points connectivity.

Actually, I get confused with many software and library tools available.

I tried to use the Ansys APDL, but it does not give a way to specify the grid points, nor to export the connectivity info.

I also found the GTS-library which seems very useful, however, It is using c language and object-oriented-programming, in which I cannot follow as my background is Fortran.

Anyone faced such problem or can give me advice/guidance about what is the simplest way to this task?

Thanks a lot

Hi Hassan,

If you are not particular about triangular mesh, you can check GridPro. It creates structured hex mesh. The output grid format would be the same as per your requirement, (1. xyz value in one file, 2. connectivity info of the same on 2nd file, 3. boundary condition info on the 3rd file). You can also control the no. of grid points/cells.

It can only create hex mesh.
