Mesh generation for labyrinth seal

Default Mesh generation for labyrinth seal

Can anyone suggest me how I can mesh the labyrinth seal shown below using Ansys Mesh or ICEM CFD.. I have attached the geometry size and no of divisions below..

I would use 4 blocks in circumferential direction as O-grid-Topologie and in plane a H-grid-Topologie as shown in the Picture below (red blocks removed).

Thanks :-) Will try it out. One more doubt.

In ANSYS MESH, suppose if we slice our fluid domain into number of parts and later if we make sliced parts as a single part, will it affect our results. Should we create interface in slover?

I'm not familiar with that program, maybe someone else can give insight. But it seems to me that it shouldn't make a difference.

Hey. I tried with technique you have suggested but failed to get mesh. I tried to find solution in Internet. But didn't get required answer. Can you please explain in detail How to mesh that geometry in ICEM CFD. It would be immense help if you do so. (if possible also suggest some materials and videos which can helpful to get that mesh.)

I can only tell you how i would do it in ICEM since i don't have any experience with the program you're using.
I would start with a quarter of the grid (90°-Segment) split that block according to the picture i posted and remove the red blocks. Then associate your 90°-mesh-segment to a 90°-segment of your geometry. After that mirror it two times to get a 180°-Segment and then your final 360°-Segment.

Another thing, are you sure you need a 360°-model. If the geometry and the boundary conditions are axialsymmetric you can probably just use a small segment with periodic boundary conditions on the sides.

Thanks alot, I got it. Yes! I wanted to analyse 3D model. So I used 3D model. Thanks for suggestions. I tried same way as you said I got the perfect mesh.

Now I am trying to mesh another 3D model and facing a new error. I have made a 3D model of another geometry (Fig 1-2D Geom) in SpaceClaim (Fig 2-3D model).

While importing that geometry into ICEM CFD I cannot see Inlet surface even when I check surfaces in ICEM CFD (Fig 3-ICEM CFD). In Spaceclaim I can see inet Surface (Fig 2-3D mod), but can't see that in ICEM CFD after importing. Same error happens when I tried modelling it in design modular and importing it to ICEM CFD.

What is this error how to resolve it. Please someone throw some light on it and please provide the solution for this error.

Waiting for some positive answers at the earliest.

Default Questions regarding new options in ICEM CFD

When I import geometry in ICEM-CFD using IGES/STEP format, in the left window, I can see a some new options, " 1. Bodies " and " 2. Fluid_1_1_MATPOINT ". [Fig 1]

What is the meaning of these two options?

When I share geometry from Design Modular, these two options will not apper on the window. Why so?

In Fig 2, While blocking, Which option I have to choose to create blocking of my fluid domain.?
