My fluid domain is the volume outside of a sphere (solid) that exists inside a cube (solid).

I've cut the domain in half, so the depression (bowl) is half of the spherical shell.

Please note the irregular elements of the mesh at the interface between the boundary layer elements and structured hexahedral elements.

What is this type of meshing error called and how can it be mitigated?

Thanks for your time,
