How to create the surface stl file of cylinder

Hi all

How to create the surface file of cylinder, just the riser part, no bottom and top face.
How to create it in Gmsh or FreeCAD or others?
Please give me some suggestions.

Hi Saatt,

You have to create the cylinder geometry with a CAD software (SolidWorks, FreeCAD, ...), for example simply extruding it from a circle. Then, you save it in .stl format and put it in the constant/triSurface folder of your case. After that, you create the mesh (blockMesh) and extract the geometry from the stl (surfaceFeatureExtract). Finally, you use snappyHexMesh to "adapt" the mesh to such geometry.

Anyway, in this way you will have a single patch, i.e. the cylinder (you cannot have, for example, bottom, top and lateral face patches). I think this is due to the way the cylinder is created by the CAD software.
I am looking for a way to create it as an "assembly of patches" in order to set different boundary conditions on each face. If anyone knows how to do it, I would appreciate your help.

Tommy
