Supppose I have an STL file for a 3d part and I want to apply a boundary condition to a face of it. Note that the STL comes as a single part. Is there a way I can set the physical entities (ID) for a group of nodes that belong to the patch within Gmsh?

For example, I have an part for which I need to to modal analysis with calculix. Can I pick a patch, and assign the nodes of the patch a fixed boundary condition and then use calculix to solve the modes?

If yes, what is the procedure in Gmsh. If you have a video tutorial that you found somewhere, please share that as well.

Thanks and Regards,
PN.

Hi
I have the same problem.
Have you found any solution for that?.
In my case I have to import into the openfoam.

Thanks and Regards,
Pavithra
