Mesh info - Total elements

I did not understand why when I reduces the number of the nodes, the total elements number under mesh info does not reduced?

The number of the total elements was 389560 before I reduces the number of the nodes, however after I reduces the number of the nodes to almost a half I found the total elements still same and did not reduces.

could someone expain to me what is happening?

The mesh has to convered to unstruct mesh and be saved to generat a new info mesh in the file, that info is the old info which saved in the previews work.
