Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a way to remove the edges between tangential faces using Salome tools, so that these edges are not considered during the meshing process (I'm working on a cylindrical shape, see attached images).

Basically I must be able to mesh a geometry where some edges are very close to each other (less than the minimal cell size). That is why I want to remove some of those edges “manually”. Otherwise, small and distorted cells are created between the edges that are very close to each other (see 'zoom' image).

I tried Union Faces but it had no effect on the geometry. Is there another way or a workaround to remove the edges between tangential faces, or a way to skip them during the meshing operation?

Thank you in advance for your help.

I run into the same problem. Have you found the solution?

Hello!

One way to remove the edges between tangential faces in Salome is to use the "Fuse" operation. Here's how you can do it:

In the Geometry module, select the faces that you want to fuse together.

Click on the "Fuse" button in the "Boolean Operations" toolbar.

In the "Fuse" window, select "Faces" as the object type to fuse, and click on the "Apply" button.

The edges between the tangential faces should now be removed.

Alternatively, you can use the "Sewing" operation to join the faces together. Here's how:

In the Geometry module, select the faces that you want to sew together.

Click on the "Sewing" button in the "Boolean Operations" toolbar.

In the "Sewing" window, select "Faces" as the object type to sew, and click on the "Apply" button.

The faces should now be joined together, and the edges between the tangential faces should be removed.

Once you have fused or sewn the faces together, you should be able to mesh the geometry without creating small and distorted cells between the edges that are very close to each other.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.

Thank you for the detail. Much appreciated!
