Dears,

I am a beginner of Autogrid and I tried to import my geometry but, obviously, I found some difficulties.

I understand that intersections between hub/blade/shroud are necessary but I am not able to select the right surfaces to define my blade. I mean, I discovered that if I use some tools to create surfaces ( like revolve, fill) in CAD, these surfaces will not recognized. is it weird?

which characteristics are necessary to recognize a blade correctly?
Please, comment. everything should be useful for a beginner like me.

Thanks

Hi,

I could not understand your question. Usually any CAD should do the job for you.

Hi,
I had troubles importing geometry from .igs .
Are there constraints for the import file in autogrid5?
what exactly does ''bad streamwise orientation'' error mean when i am setting leading and trailing edge?
how can I solve discontinuity issues in the channel without change the geometry?
I would like to keep the nose of the runner but i do not know how to describe the hub-line. probably this old pic can help to understand what I am saying

Thanks

Hi,
importing .igs file to autogrid is not always successful.
regarding the .igs model following tips come to my mind:
- separate suction and pressure sides so that LE and TE lines can be distinguished.
- no manufacturing details such as fillets, roots, tip cavities, cooling passages and cooling holes should exist in your model.
- surfaces of suction side and pressure side should be smooth enough
- endwalls can be separately defined through hub and shroud curves and should not be neccessarily included in .igs model.

Please note the list of supported geometry entities in the AutoGrid5 manual. For example trimmed parametric surfaces (type 144) and offset surfaces (type 140) are supported for IGES import but some other types exist in IGES format that can not be imported in AutoGrid5.
