Export Solid Domain Autogrid5

Hello everyone,

I've just managed to mesh my rows properly with Autogrid5. When I go to VIEW/View solid parts I see that also the blade itself has been meshed.

For the next step, I need to save both the fluid AND the solid domain in a .cgns or .msh file.

But when I import the respective mesh file in FINE/TURBO (or in CFX), I merely get the fluid domains lacking the solid ones?

Is there some sort of toggle "export also solid parts" at Autogrid that I have been missing?

Thanks for your help!

Hello Karwendel,

When you select View -> View 3D Solid Mesh the shading and mesh on hub and blades is displayed. Per default the solid body of the blade is not meshed. But with little effort you are able to do this in AutoGrid5, of course.

To define and mesh the solid body of a specific blade please select the row in the top left part of the GUI. Please right-click the "Main Blade" and select "Cooling" -> "Add Solid Body". Now, please right-click the new entry "Solid Body" -> "Configuration". A dialog opens (please have a look at the screenshot), where you can define a simple solid body, for example.

Other solid body configurations are:
- Solid body with penny at hub and/or shroud
- Radial holes
- Cooling channels
- Basin with or without cooling channels
- Cooling channels without tip wall
- Squealer tip on upper side, lower side or camber line

To get in touch with this feature I recommend to have a look at the Advanced Tutorial 9 ("Cooling and Solid Mesh Generation"). The tutorial is available at the customer area:
AutoMesh™ > AutoGrid5™ > Tutorials > Advanced > Tutorial 9: Cooling & Solid Mesh Generation

There you can download the tutorial files, too.

Kind regards and have a nice day,
Holger
