I usually have patience for running CFD simulations with different softwares, but my experience with Fine MArine from Numeca is killing my nerves.
I have posted that CF View is a bad product because the interface is really slow when is used to plot, wave elevation, hydrodynamic pressure, etc. Even when I have tried to use 4 nodes to speed up, it wont work. Now I'm facing the same problem with Hexpressview, I'm working with a big vessel. To try to import with the custom settings, it's taking ages just to open the file. Apart the rotating it, translating it it almost impossible. I believe that once I ut a mesh on my geometry, it will be impossible to work and see the mesh. Numeca, are you working to get this problem over ? I'm almost changing to another software because is impossible to work with your products !!!! |

Dear Jorge,
sorry to hear that your are not fully satisfied with our tools. But what is the intention of this post, except "bashing" NUMECA products? If you are interested in an official statement from NUMECA International I would encourage you to contact them directly to discuss this topic. Kind regards, Holger Last edited by DarylMusashi; February 2, 2018 at 02:10. |

Dear Jorge,
It would be helpful to add some concrete information to your message for others to be able to help you out. For example: which version of FINE/Marine and HEXPRESS/Hybrid you are using? What are your machine specifications (e.g. available RAM). Which OS? What are the specifications of your graphics card? Which graphics driver are you using? If you launch HEXPRESS™/View or CFView™ with the -print option, you will be able to see which driver is being used. Is it OpenGL? Are you using a remote display? If so, I guess you use X11 driver? What is the size of your case? I mean the cell count? And for the import: what are the dimensions of your geometry? Best regards, Colinda. |

version Fine Marine6.2, Hexpress Hybrid 71
I work in a remote display which is X11 driver Length of my geometry is full scale , which means the geometry is 230 length, 31 wide, and the domain is cylindrical, in total the amount the cell will be around 14M Regards |

Dear Jorge,
remote connection and X11 drivers are most probably the worst combination of tools for the interfaces display (not only for NUMECA software). Usually, we prefer VNC or TeamViewer sessions for instance which open the display on the distant machine and forward the image to your local screen. With these tools, you benefit from the best local drivers of the distant machine and no feedback time from the slowness of a network. Since I am only partially aware of the situation of the usage of our software at your site, which is a bit particular, it should not be discussed publically since I will need more information. I will open a support ticket for you and continue the discussion there. Best regards,
