FSI simulation of wind turbine blade using NLH method

1 Attachment(s)
Hello,

I’m trying to run FSI simulation of wind turbine blade using NLH method and modal coupling approach. For the first step, I tried to extend the steady simulation of the wind turbine blade provided in the NUMECA Fine/Turbo’s tutorial to NLH computation. I followed the steps from another tutorial case, Flutter Analysis of Axial Compressor, to implement NLH method. To be more specific, the number of frequencies per perturbation is 1 and the max number of perturbations of per blade row is 1. For the mode shapes of the blade, I calculated and exported in ANSYS. The type of mesh deformation is Radial Basis Functions --> Transfinite Interpolation. The steady solution is set as initial solution. However, the run is stuck at the stage of “Constructing matrix C with reduce patch” (please see attached image). I waited for more than an hour and it did not go any further. I’m wondering whether the steps would be different to implement NLH method for the wind turbine blade case. I’d also be grateful if someone could give me any suggestion or any advice to solve this problem.

Thank you very much in advance.

Hello Ko_Shine,

did you manage to fix the problem? I have the exact same problem and I am still trying to fix it.

Best,

Hello,

Yes, I solved the problem. It was due to the number of nodes involved in the mode shape. Keep the number of nodes lower than 10,000 or even much lower. Otherwise, it will take ages.

I hope it helps.

Alright, I had a feeling it was about that. Thank you so much I will try it.
