Hi, I am just starting my Master Thesys and it involves the use of Numecas Fine/HEXA Software. At my curent university we do not have license for Parasolid to create the ground surfaces we want. Y would like to know witch other cad programs can I use that are compatible with Numecas Hexpress or what other options do I have to create my surfaces ant convert them to .x_t.
Thank you very much in advance.

On Numeca's website... if your university bought a license, they have access to the customer area.

Dear Rodrigo;
Hexpress accepts .stl format as well.
you can easily generate Parasolid or .stl files in 3D softwares such as "Unigraphics" and import them to Hexpress.
does it help?

regards

In my recent proyect I´m trying to do a CFD analisys over surface of great extension. I can get the .stl of the surface map (Global Mapper) and import it to HEXPRESS to create a posible .dom. My problem now is that I have to create I control volume and thge surface alone does not count as a close control volume. I´ve been thinking on creating inside Hexpress (CAD manipulation) a box, transform this into a domain and finally import an internal surface (the .stl file from GM mentioned before). I´ve try it several times but I keep getting some error about some .bcs that the programm is not finding while trying to import the internal surface.
Does anybody have any ideas as to how can I create this control volume inside Hexpress or do you think it is better to create this volume in AUTOCAD or any other CAE programm.
Thank you very much for your Help.
Rodrigo

Hi Rodrigo,

Are you in a trouble of the box mesh? In the mesh wizard (initial mesh panel) you can choose how do you wanna your mesh will be. It computes the control volume. I'm not really sure of the problems you have when you import a solid model like *.stl. If you have problems with this extension you can try to import CATPart model from Catia V5.

If you talk spanish you can send me a private message to understand better your trouble and I could try to solve the problem with HEXPRESS.

Cheers
