Dear sir,

I was just trying to run pimpleFoam solver with the case of channel395DFSEM in OpenFOAM-1612+ and after run for post-processing all the analysis for the turbulence structure are not the same like that one from the original source of the paper
Poletto, R., Craft, T., and Revell, A.,
"A New Divergence Free Synthetic Eddy Method for the Reproduction of Inlet Flow Conditions for LES", Flow Turbulence Combust (2013) 91:519-539

Even all the input are same as the paper. All values are very small relative to the paper results. I am wondering is there something wrong with it??

Thanks in advance

Mohamed

I have also found the same problem. Did you find the issue?

I didn't try with it again but what I conclude that all the tutorials in OpenFoam are not accurate they are such a way to show you how to use and modify the code not to get accurate results from them.

I have managed to get some more acceptable results. By setting the nCellsPerEddy to a value of 3 and correcting the value of delta to 1 in the 0/U file, I am able to achieve streamwise and normal stresses that are close to that of the paper but by no means as perfect as what the paper acheives.

The paper appears to have a different average length scale (Eq. 14 in the paper) than the one in OpenFOAM which has been acknowledged but I can't see the turbulent structures being sustained if they are smaller than the size of the cell to resolve them. If you are keen to see a few plots let me know and I'll gather a few together in my spare time.

Dear Chris,

Yes for sure it will be useful for me if you can share some curves of your results with me to discuss them. However, I think still the boundary condition needs some adjustments and parameters which are not included in the paper to get the same results as in the paper.
