OpenFOAM 1.6 GGI and mergeMeshes
I'm sorry if this isn't the right place for this post, but I didn't see anywhere else it fit.
Does release 1.6 contain most of the features of 1.5-dev? Specifically I'm wondering about the GGI for rotating meshes. I didn't see it mentioned in the release notes. Was any work done on mergeMeshes so make it handle zones properly? I found that the version in 1.5 was pretty much unusable on anything of any complexity because of the zone problems and other bugs. |
Dear Hansel,
just a few pointers on the issue. http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...x-1-5-dev.html http://www.openfoamworkshop.org/2009...OAM_extend.pdf http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Main_OFextendFeatures and sorry for the confusion. Henrik |
Thank you for the answer. Like a lot of people I had assumed that OF-1.5, OF-1.5.x, and OF-1.5-dev all came from the same people and were just different levels of development. I now see that's not the case. This explains why some use git and some use svn.
The rotating mesh functionality is really necessary for testing wind turbines. It would be nice if that became a standard feature some day. (I'm sure you've heard that about about 10000 other features.) For now I guess I wait until there is a 1.6-dev version available. Thanks again. Steve |
Speaking of which...
Is a 1.6-dev on the horizon?
I need to use GGI (1.5-dev), but I also want to use many of the new features in 1.6, such as Boussinesq buoyancy, and the new Thermophysical structure. -dave |
Hi,
Hrv is working on the development of OF1.6-dev. When it will be released? That is the big question and only the inner circle of the Extend-Team knows. My guess, Maybe around the OFWorkshop in Gothenburg or not very long after the workshop. But I could imagine that it is available there. elvis |
