mesh improvements for 'face tets'
2 Attachment(s)
Hi to everybody.
I'm using cfMesh to create meshes for complicated body. It works well, but too much often I find 'face tet' errors; using simpleFoam or pimpleFoam it is only a warning (openFoam doesn't stop), but using Particle Tracking solver (e.g. DMPFoam or icoUncoupledKinematcParcelFoam) it becomes a blocking error. Using "checkMesh -allGeometry" I should find 'face tet' errors: but cfMesh version and openFoam official version give different results: attached you will find two logfile that use the same mesh, generated by cfMesh. They are really different, and it seams that cfMesh version is incomplete. But the true question is: how can I improve the mesh quality in cfMesh, other then using improveMeshQuality tool? and how could I set its optional parameter? Thank you a lot Piero |
Hi,
The installation of cfMesh is compiled with foam-extend-3.1, and the checkMesh uses standard mesh checks implemented in foam-extend-3.1. You are using OpenFOAM-2.4.0 for your simulation, and it has some additional checks implemented there. To improve the quality inside cfMesh, you need to check whether the checks of your interest are already implemented there, and use them in the optimisation process. It is not available via some settings, you need to do some programming. Regards, Franjo |
