Dear all,

my task is to create a Mesh around an aerofoil with cfMesh.

I am currently struggling with the mesh quality at the sharp edge of the aerofoil.

Is it possible to merge the boundary layers of the upper and lower surface with cfMesh?

I want to create something similar to a C-grid topology for the boundary layers.

One option is to cut off the end of the airfoil, so that you get a vertical edge that has a length on the same order of the vertical cell thickness.

It's also relatively easy to create a high-quality C-grid with blockMesh.

cfMesh has a pretty bad prism layer generator. You're better off either using cfMesh for the core and snappy for the prisms, or just using another mesh generator all together.

As eric says, for that simple of a geometry why not just make the C-grid.

I’m having trouble with prism layers. I have attached some photo of the said problem, I don’t know if you have seen this problem before and if/ or you know what setting to use to fix it. I’ve tried a range of prism layer thickness and a number of layers and it either gets rid the prism layer or makes the problem worse

Thanks you,
Mitch

When thickness is increased

When prism layers are decrease >3.5 the prism layer disappears
