Dear Dr. Jacobsen,

As per your suggestions, for running a parallel case, I assign dummy boundary condition as zeroGradient in the dictionaries alhpa.water and U for wave tank inlet. After domain decomposition, the wave tank inlet dummy boundary conditions are changed back to waveAlpha in alpha.water dictionary and waveVelocity in U dictionary. After the simulation, the command reconstructPar gives the following error:

request for dictionary waveProperties from objectRegistry region0 failed

I am trying to view the results in paraview. Kindly can you please advise an alternate approach. I apologize for any inconvenience caused with these issues. Thank you for your patience and time.

Most&More,
Gautami Erukulla.

Dear Dr. Jacobsen,

Sorry for troubling you with the same question again.
I was wondering if I could follow the similar steps with reconstructPar as you had suggested for decomposePar, without affecting the solution. After the simulation, change the boundary condition to a dummy boundary condition for inlet in alpha.water and U dictionaries in all the folders saved at writeInterval for all processors before the command reconstructPar. Kindly please advise. Thank you for your time.

Hi Gautami,

I never reconstruct the solution, so I can only advise to to try for yourself.

Kind regards,

Niels

Dear Dr. Jacobsen,

Sorry for the trouble, there was an oversight at my end, the command reconstructPar works fine with no issues. Thank you very much for your time and patience.

Dear Gautami and Dr. Jacobsen,

I have the same problem with overset grid. How to solve it? By using changeDictionary? Can you provide a example file of changeDictionary?

How to change the boundary conditions for all the results in processors? What's the command? I have tried 'mpirun -np 8 changeDictionary -parallel', it doesn't work.

Thanks.

Dear Love_Huang,

I have not tried to work with overset mesh myself (incl. waves2Foam). Therefore, please verify that you have constructed the solver correctly, i.e. does it work with waves on a simple case with static grids and no overset?

Kind regards

Niels

Dear Dr. Niels:

Ok, I will check the code and run a test case with static grid.

Best regards.
