Open source repository - Adaptive mesh refinement

Hi everyone,

we just released an open-source version of the adaptive mesh refinement we've implemented at AirShaper:
https://airshaper.com/blog/open-sour...esh-refinement

It has been possible for quite some time to do adaptive mesh refinement in OpenFOAM / snappyHexMesh in terms of volume cells (plenty of libraries & tutorials available). But those typically only refine the volume cells and not the surface cells.

In this repository, we keep a copy of the original mesh before it is snapped to the surface. The refinement is then performed on this non-snapped mesh, after which it is snapped to the geometry again. This allows for refinement on the surface and it also guarantees accurate snapping of features & surfaces.

We're very much looking forward to any feedback & contributions from the community!

Cheers,

Wouter Remmerie & the AirShaper team.
