Hi,

I've been using HelyxOS for a few weeks and have found that it is a great way to get an initial push through the steep (at least for me) learning curve to OpenFOAM.

I'd like to know more about the reasoning behind why Helyx-OS sets its no-slip boundaries:

The 0 subdirectories under the proc* directories contain the nut fille. Within this file, Helyx-OS sets all wall functions for patches with the boundary "wall" + "no slip" to nutUSpaldingWallFunction and a value of uniform 0.001.
  1. What is the reasoning for using this wall treatment by default?
  2. Since the GUI doesn't have the facility [yet], what is the best way to change default values? (find/sed linux command since it is in multiple directories for each processor), then manually doing the mpirun without saving from HelyxOS?
  3. How do I request the ability to change wall functions to the growing wish list?

Thanks

Sorry, this is an old one. Here are some answers for future travelers to this thread
  1. This is a wall function for nut that is good all around setting for no-slip walls using several turbulence models. The wall "uniform 0.0001" entry is a place holder and will depend on what the wall-function sets according to the flow phenomena near the wall. If you want another wall function then you can change it manually or use the changeDictionary utility
  2. Rather than sed...you can use the changeDictionary utility and you could even add this to the run script in HELYX-OS with "edit script" button. To do this, make sure you have a correctly defined changeDictionaryDict file in the system folder of the case.
  3. You can make feature requests at the sourceforge project tickets page
