During the execution of the following command on Fedora 16:

sudo rpm -i http://www.openfoam.org/download/fed...1.0-1.i686.rpm

the following error message appears:

failed dependency:
/bin/csh is needed by openFOAM-2.1.0-1.x86_64

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You need to install tcsh package first.

yum install tcsh

Hi all,

I realize this post is fairly old but still I have a similar problem.

After I paste the final 64-bit line from the OpenFOAMs website (below) it gives this error:

error: Failed dependencies:
/bin/csh is needed by OpenFOAM-21.1.-1.x86_64

"sudo rpm -i http://www.openfoam.org/download/fedora/16/x86_64/OpenFOAM-2.1.1-1.x86_64.rpm"

After reading this post I then put the command 'yum install tcsh' but this doesn't appear to work either. It tries to install but then gives this error:

Failed:
tcsh.x86_64 0:6.17-18.fc17

Frankly I am a little lost and really require some help.

Information you may require:

• Running in Fedora 17 64-bit
• installed from a CD .iso onto a USB drive (so I have no restriction using a live USB)
• I have applied all software updates
• Installed RPM Fusion

Did you install fedora 16 rpm on fedora 17? Try:

sudo rpm -i http://www.openfoam.org/download/fed...1-1.x86_64.rpm

From the RPM fusion site it appears there is a generic RPM for 15,16 and 17 the the site below and following link.

It just seems impossible to install tcsh or csh which I believe is the problem.
Maybe this link will help, fingers crossed.

I'm not sure why there is a dependency on tcsh, I'll check it out.

What's the full error message when you try to install tcsh? What does "yum check" say? tcsh is provided by the fedora repository, no need for rpm fusion (yum info tcsh).
