Hi all,
Our computer can't connect to the network, so I need to install OpenFoam 2.3.0 without network. The system of our computer is Linux. I'm really confused, help me!
Thanks!

Hi,

I guess the list of questions will be rather standard:

1. What Linux distribution is installed on your computer?

2. Are the dependencies (openmpi, scotch, boost*, CGAL*) of OpenFOAM installed on your computer?

So you've got two options: install prebuilt binary packages for your Linux distribution (download them elsewhere, bring them on flash drive, run package manager commands), compile from sources (download source tarballs elsewhere, bring them to your computer and compile).

* - optional components.

Hi Alexey,
Thanks for your answer. The Ubuntu is installed on my computer. Are the four dependencies you said sufficient for installation? I guess the sources tarballs you said are OpenFOAM-2.3.0. tgz and ThirdParty-2.3.0. tgz, right? Could you show me the detail of the installation, because I am really unfamiliar with the Linux system.
Thanks!

Hi,

I don't know how these dependencies are split into packages in Ubuntu. Also certain software (ex. CGAL) has its own dependencies. And just for OpenFOAM they are sufficient. But then nuances will appear: you'll need paraview for visualization (it in turn needs qt and others).

Also Ubuntu has installation DVD images, maybe all necessary software to build OpenFOAM are there. You can try following http://openfoam.org/download/source.php (you'll need only OpenFOAM and ThirdParty tarballs).
