foam-extend 3.1: blockMesh Illegal instruction error on mac 10.6.8

Dear All,

I followed the steps in

https://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/I...h_sparse_image

to install OpenFOAM ext-3.1. After completing the steps, blockMesh returns

"Illegal instruction"

I repeated the installation and the problem persists. Any ideas on this?

Thank you.

Greetings utkunun,

I tried searching for indications on which Mac OS X version was used for building the image and I couldn't find specific details. Nonetheless, according to the "ReleaseNotes.txt", it's very likely built for working with Mac OS X 10.9.3 and newer: http://sourceforge.net/p/openfoam-ex...Notes.txt#l324

Therefore, it's probably why it didn't work properly with your Mac OS X 10.6.8 :(

You will need to build from source code. According to what I could find in the announcement thread: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...end-3-1-a.html - in post #7:

Only modifications are to pull extend-3.1, and ignore the patches (no need since they are in the repo).
