Hey Guys,

Okay, maybe I'm just a little thick, but I can't seem to be able to get paraview to compile with python support.

I go in to the makeParaView make file in my third party directory of openFoam, change with python to true, added various places that seemed correct for the library, for example /usr/lib/python2.7/, and when I run the make file I get back

No python headers found in /usr/include/python/usr/lib/python2.7/
Please install python headers or deactivate
python support by not using the -python option

Now I don't know if I have chosen the correct folder for python lib, I definitely can't see a python2.7.lib file in there, which suggests it's probably wrong (how, by the way, do I find this path?) However the path in the error message seems to be showing /usr/include/the path I wrote, which seems strange to me,

Can someone help me with this?

Knowing which Linux Distribution and which OpenFOAM version you're using would make it a lot easier to help you.

Without knowing which one you're using, I can at least suggest you try following the instructions provided here: http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/In...u#Ubuntu_15.04 - it's for OpenFOAM 2.4.0 and Ubuntu 15.04, which builds ParaView with Python and MPI support.

Hey Bruno, thanks for getting back to me, I'm using open foam 2.4 and Linux mint 17.2

So I originally compiled the repository version following the instructions here http://www.openfoam.org/download/git.php, and am now trying to recompile with python support, sorry it seems I didn't clearly explain the background to my problem...

Looking at the instructions on the wiki I should be able to compile except that I'm not sure on the python lib path, how do I check this?

Hi Sean,

Linux Mint 17.2 seems to be derived from Ubuntu 14.04, and since you're using 2.4.x, then the following instructions should be what you're looking for: http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/In...u#Ubuntu_14.04

From the instructions, you need to at least do these steps:

1. Install the Python packages:
   

   sudo apt-get install python python-dev

2. Then follow the instructions given in step #9, including all 5 sub-steps.
