Hi, I have built OF from source on an amazon EC2 instance. Because space is quite precious I wonder what are the files that I need to keep in order to have a functioning installation.
I have followed the standard instructions to build from source so my installation tree looks like this (from ~): OpenFOAM/ ├── OpenFOAM-2.4.0 │** ├── Allwmake │** ├── applications │** ├── bin │** ├── COPYING │** ├── doc │** ├── etc │** ├── platforms │** ├── README.html │** ├── README.org │** ├── src │** ├── tutorials │** └── wmake ├── ThirdParty-2.4.0 │** ├── Allclean │** ├── Allwmake │** ├── AllwmakeLibccmio │** ├── build │** ├── CGAL-4.6 │** ├── cmake-2.8.12.1 │** ├── etc │** ├── makeCGAL │** ├── makeCmake │** ├── makeGcc │** ├── makeLLVM │** ├── makeParaView │** ├── makeParaView4 │** ├── makeQt │** ├── openmpi-1.8.5 │** ├── ParaView-4.1.0 │** ├── platforms │** ├── README.html │** ├── README.org │** └── scotch_6.0.3 └── ubuntu-2.4.0 ├── platforms ├── run └── swak4Foam My guess is that ThirdParty-2.4.0 can be deleted and so all the docs and tutorials. But can I get rid of all the sources? The idea is to create an image that is used only for the calculation and uses the minimum amount of space. Thanks |

If space is so small that the installation itself is problematic, you're going to run into serious problems trying to store any sizable CFD solution data set.

Quick answer: If you no longer need to build anything at all from source code, then you only need 5 folders:

Thanks Bruno. That's what I needed.
@kmooney I will keep that in mind. At the moment my files are not very big as I am in development. Practically I run the case, sample a few points, download the results and delete the case. |
