3.0+ Virus warning in installer for Windows
I've installed the 2.4 version for Windows which uses a virtual machine (VirtualBox).
http://www.openfoam.com/news/openfoam-windows.php The latest scan came up with a close_machine.exe as being a virus (its in the openfoam folders). Anyone else have this happen? |
Update
Update: Got a response from a nice guy at ESI. Looking into the issue, he was able to reproduce it. Nothing to worry about, but virus checkers may catch this up. It has to do with special exe's for the VMware (VirtualBox) that runs to fire up a linux os environment for OpenFoam. Just any FYI for anyone else who this has popped up for. From the discussion, it is highly unlikely anything malicious. Always good to check your checksums to make sure its legit though.

OpenFoam v3.0.0 for Windows is reported to contain a Virus
I am attempting to install OpenFoam on Windows 7 x64 which has McAfee VirusScan Enterprise v8.8.0.1247 installed.
When I attempt to install: OpenCFD-OpenFOAM4WindowsInstaller_v3.0.0.exe McAfee reports an alert related to the extracted file "close_machine.exe" and reports that it contains a Trojan called "RDN/generic" and then deletes the file. This causes the OpenFoam part of the installation to close, but the installation continues with Docker, Virtual Box and GIT. Note, the "OF_Env_Create", "OpenFOAM_Start" and "Boot2Docker for Windows" shortcuts are available on the desktop. I believe that the OpenFoam instalation was prematurely terminated as I cannot find any of the Tutorials to test openFoam. As I am in a corporate network environment, I cannot (and do not want to) disable McAfee and hence cannot complete the installation of OpenFoam for Windows. Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. I have a screenshot of the McAfee alert, but I do seem to be able to copy it to this message. I can send it if required. |
Have you considered using a linux virtual box inside windows instead? With that approach you could simply use a linux OF release as if you were running a native linux based OS. I haven't had too much luck with the windows releases.

foam-extend-3.2 on windows runs very well. I have been able to install it on multiple computers (Mac, linux, and windows). Maybe you can look into that.

Initial phase distribution on OpenFOAM windows (3)
Hi all,
I have problem on simulating multiphase flow in OpenFoam windows. My problem is when I want to run damBreak tutorial case after "blockMesh.exe" and copying "alpha.water.org to alpha.water" I use "setFields" command. But after that when I use paraview I do not have any initial phase distribution. I tried "setFields.exe" also but it gave same result. Could you please help me?? Thank you in advance! :) |
Did you check results after running few iteration whether it make sense.? Try both cell based alpha value in paraview to visualise 0 field data.
ALso check setField log for any error it report if any |
