Hello All,
I have to admit that I am new to both Linux and OpenFOAM. This issue that I am facing is I get the following message Qt: Cannot set locale modifiers: after I run the command paraFoam in the terminal. The paraFoam opens like normal, but I get the mentioned message in the terminal and I can't continue. ( I have to kill the terminal and start over). Your help would be highly appreciated! Moe |

Answers:
1- OpenFOAM V.4 2- Ubunto 16.04 LTS 3- Instructions from https://openfoam.org/ The issue is not causing a big problem to me. I just don't understand what the message means. I noticed that if I close the paraview application, I can go back to the terminal and write commands as usual. However, I can't use the terminal if paraview is open. I appreciate your reply. |

Quick answer: If I understood your description correctly, although that warning/error message is a bit cryptic, it should not have affected the usage of the terminal.
Whenever you run a command in a terminal (or command line window), the command line usually waits for the application to end. Once the application is done, it will return control to the command line. If it does not seem like it's returning control after the application ends (namely after you close ParaView), then press the "Enter" (or "Return") key in the command line to see if it reacts and returns control. If this doesn't solve this particular issue, then something very strange is going on. On the other hand, if the command line is waiting for ParaView to finish, then what you can do is launch ParaView as background application, by appending the ampersand character, for example: Code:
paraFoam & |
