Hi there,

We're wanting to give openfoam a go and will be installing it on a standalone laptop.

I read the installation threads but could not find out where to start from scratch.

Ideally, what processing power is needed? How much RAM is good? Are there requirements for the graphic card? 64bit best?

Is there a best linux distro to use?

And finally, what do I actually need to install to get started: openfoam, visual CFD and...? We probably will start off with imported CAD drawings done by other people. Do we need a CAD viewer as well to do this?

Apologies for the dumb questions, this is very very new to me!

Thanks,

Gwen
