ParaView - Legacy Rendering Backend

I recently installed openFOAM v6 in Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS. I follow the steps given at https://openfoam.org/download/6-ubuntu/. OpenFOAM is working correctly. However, when I run the paraFOAM command it opens a window titled ParaView 5.4.0 64-bit (Legacy Rendering Backend). That is, paraView does not display anything. When I installed the paraView independent of openFOAM it worked correctly.
Could someone help me solve this problem?

Quick questions:
  1. Which independent installation of ParaView are you referring to?
    • For example, are you referring to installing it via "apt install" or directly from paraview.org?
  2. Is Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS installed directly on your machine, or installed inside a virtual machine or installed through Windows 10 WSL through their store?
  3. Which graphics card does your machine have and which drivers are you using with it?

Hello Bruno Santos and anno..

Got the solution? I am also facing the same issue..it gives nothing just shows a message ParaView5.4.1 64-bit (Legacy Rendering Backend) when I use paraFoam in my terminal.
Some comments:
1. Using Ubuntu 18.04 (pre-installed)

2. Installed via "sudo apt-get install paraview"
Thanks !

Quick questions @chandra shekhar pant:
  1. Which OpenFOAM version did you install?
  2. If you installed OpenFOAM 6, then have you tried OpenFOAM 7?
  3. Please do not use:
    Code:

    sudo apt-get install paraview
    Uninstall it by running:
    Code:

    sudo apt-get remove paraview
because having the two ParaView versions can result in this kind of problem you are having.

Hello Bruno Santos,

Many thanks for your reply. I had seen in the previous post that you often resolve the issues by your answers/comments. Also, I found many solutions from your prior comments.

Answers to your questions:
1. OpenFoam 19.06

2. Also tried to install ParaFoam from the in-house "ThirdParty-v1906" which I got through the official website. But this had failed infinite number of times varying from different machines/different ubuntu versions etc. Qt5, Cmake etc had ruined my time. Finally, I settled by installing it through "sudo apt-get install paraview", otherwise I have no way to visualize the results. Hope now you understand my situation.

Now I am installed OpenFoam v1906 in 3-4 machines, that worked perfectly, but the parafoam is great uphill task for me.

Thanks and regards
