Foam-Extend with existing OpenFoam

New user here, not sure of correct terminology.
I have been using openfoam for some weeks. Now I need to install foam extend.
I'm trying to solve some issues with the installation.
1. Is it possible/ recomended to install foam extend on a system where openfoam is already installed?
2. If yes, when we execute a command, for example pisoFoam, how do we know if the command is executed by openfoam or foam extend?

Everytime you start the console, you have to source the bashrc file of the openFOAM/foam-extend version you want to use by typing

source /*openFoamInstallationFolder*/etc/bashrc

Only then you are able to use the compiled applications.

You should always just source a bashrc file of one version at a time in order to ensure you are using only applications from this specific version.

Quick note: You can also use aliases, namely a command that allows you to activate a specific environment, as instructed here: https://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/I...nFOAM_versions

Thanks! I have been able to use both with the help of aliases.
